Asylum Street Spankers

Founded fourteen years ago at a booze and hallucinogen-fueled party at the Dabbs Hotel along the river in Llano, Texas, the Asylum Street Spankers stand as one of America’s most distinctive groups. Defiantly acoustic, fiercely independent and absurdly good, the Spankers have been led by founders Christina Marrs and Wammo from being a country-blues revival act playing happy hours in Austin, through nearly 40 musicians, endless touring and constant evolution to being an internationally reknowned underground institution. Fueled by an ethos born of their punk roots, Marrs and Wammo have built their lives around making unique music that surprises and entertains.

Udi and His Fellow Villagers w/ The In?

Few, if any, bands these days can boast 14 individual pieces of funk. But Udi and His Fellow Villagers has set out on a mission to bring the funk the way it’s supposed to be heard. Six blazing horns, a rock solid rhythm section, and two soulful singers combined with a determination to get everyone up and dancing make for one of the most exciting and unique sounds in St. Louis. Whether offering up tunes of funk masters like James Brown and Tower of Power or dishing out some original grooves, Udi and His Fellow Villagers is quickly establishing itself as the funkiest, freakiest, getting-downiest band to hit St. Louis in a dog’s age.

FLOW (early show) w/ Micheal Logen (late show)

Saxophonist Kim Bock has made New York City his home since 2000. Originally from Denmark, Kim came to the States in 1994 to attend Berklee College of Music. Wow, talking about a change of pace!! After completing studies in Boston he attended University of South Florida for his masters. Lots of big band playing down there. Shortly after moving to NYC, Kim got the call from trompet legend Maynard Ferguson and went on the road with him, criss-crossing the US numerous times. A stratospheric experience! Kim is a recording artist for the jazz label SteepleChase. Pls. check out www.kimbock.com for sights and sounds of the Kim bock Quartet as well as the organ trio FLOW
