London Calling, YM! and KnuckleRumbler are joining forces in celebrating London Calling’s fourth year of partying and creating one the few Official LouFest after parties. Taking place at The Gramophone, known for its cross culture audiences and diverse programming, this special event will feature two breaking artists who’s names have been flooding the blogosphere. Headlining will be the live electronic sounds of Hey Champ! Supporting the live electro-pop trio in making the move are Berlin, Germany’s own AcidKids! Starting and ending the nights festivities will be London Calling’s own DJ Clockwork, Nick O., and Matt Leach. There’s is no doubt that these three professionals partiers are going to turn this party out as they have successfully spearheaded the longest running and most successful dance party in St. Louis for the past four years and don’t have any plans on stopping now.

Doors at 9 p.m.
$8 advance tickets/$10 at the door
(go to http://knucklerumbler.eventbrite.com/ for tickets)

You can check out performing artists music below:

Hey Champ: http://www.myspace.com/heychamp
In their short time on the scene, Hey Champ have created a loud buzz paired with a strong following and a great history . Originally on Lupe Fiasco’s label they have changed gears with their recent signing to Seattle based indie, Townie Records as they strive to take electro-pop to a higher level. Combining their influences, ranging from classical music and jazz to the power-pop of Rockford’s hometown heroes Cheap Trick to the synth-heavy productions of Giorgio Moroder and Trevor Horn their sound is infectious, energetic, and nostalgic for an imagined future. This band will be bringing the same feeling they have in their global tours with Passion Pit, Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head, Lupe Fiasco, and Kid Cudi.

Acidkids: http://www.myspace.com/acidkids
Acidkids are Daniel Dexter, Topper, Harley and X van Haag who over some drinks decided to hit the stage to give audiences music they truly enjoy. This turned into a little piece of b-more, jackin techno, hooligan disco, funk and classics that moved crowds in fashions the Acidkids never dreamed of. They have played their shows in cities across Europe, S. America, and N. America and back again. They started their own party’s called “ Acidkids go to…” where they have gotten to share the stage with Boyz Noize, Jesse Rose, 8-Bit Boy and more.

Somehow this turned into nine Metallica Songs and a full CD recorded by Toman and fellow Eastman grad Patricia Kline. Originally they weren’t even planning on really selling the CD, just distributing to family and friends, but demands for the CD to be made available to the public soon followed. The band was also requested to tour and has been doing so since 2007.

Harptallica has recently added some new songs, branching out to include works by Black Sabbath, Megadeth, and Iron Maiden. In 2009 Houston based harpist Mollie Marcuson joined the group to replace Patricia, who went back to school to pursue a doctorate in harp performance.

Harptallica has performed live on radio and TV stations throughout the country, as well as at the 2007 Metallibash in Long Beach California. The band maintains an active touring schedule when they aren’t at home busy being “classical” harpists.

Their sound fits as easily in a Kingston dancehall as it does in an artist’s loft-party in the warehouse district. Though primarily classified as a reggae group, The Drastics embrace many styles of music both live and in the studio. This can be heard in their songs, which draw from roots Jamaican music, hip hop, hard-bop jazz, afro-beat, dancehall, as well as folk music from Asia, Africa, the Middle East and South America. Take this powder keg cocktail of styles, add the pulse of gritty everyday urban living and you get one explosive sound.

Not playing into any gimmicks or compromising to trends (“The Drastics deserve much credit for moving deep into unchartered territories” – allMusic Guide) The Drastics have been consistantly rocking crowds for three years from NYC to LA and everywhere in between (“dub masters, The Drastics … never fail to put on a killer party” – TimeOut Chicago).

Throughout the years John Mooney has developed one of the most distinctive and easily identifiable guitar and vocal signatures of anyone alive today. Part of the original impetus for his interest in music may have filtered down from his grandfather, a musician himself. “He used to play the mandolin and banjo back in the 20’s” says Mooney. “He even cut a couple of 78’s for the Peerless label that I’ve heard. It was really hot stuff, a kind of raggy jazz.“

John left home at 15 and began playing with Joe Beard at about that same time. Joe introduced him to the first and most enduring influence on the development of Mooney’s music, the legendary Delta blues singer, Ed “Son” House. Impressed by the 16 year old musician’s talent, Son and John soon became friends. “I wasn’t aware of what the opportunity meant, but I knew there was nobody better in Delta blues.“ Mooney cites Son’s heavily rhythmic style having a strong influence on him. In fact, the way Mooney adapts acoustic playing to a modern electric format is one of his most distinctive trademarks.

In 1976 John moved to New Orleans and immersed himself in that city’s vibrant music scene. John regularly played with the likes of Earl King, The Meters, Snooks Eaglin, and the man who was to influence his music greatly, the father of New Orleans piano, Professor Longhair. He was playing regularly in front of New Orleans drummers like Zigaboo Modeliste, John Vidacovich, and Herman Ernest. At this place in time John successfully combined the sounds of the delta with the syncopated rhythms of the Crescent City to create the style that has become uniquely his own.

Since 1981 he has been touring with his group, the Bluesiana Band, performing throughout the U.S., Canada, Panama, Europe, Australia, and Japan. After the loss of long time friend and band member Jeff Sarli, Mooney has called upon Rene Coman of the Iguanas for Bluesiana Bass rhythms and renowned New Orleans drummer Kevin O’Day to keep the beat. Over the years John and his band have earned a musical reputation that have gained them invitations to play at numerous folk, jazz, and blues festivals across the globe, including the Montreaux Jazz Festival, the Newport Folk Festival, the Chicago Blues Festival, and a yearly appearance at New Orleans’ world renowned Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Doors at 8 p.m., show at 9 p.m. 21+

PLEASE NOTE: Advance ticket sales have ended for John Mooney as of 3:15 on 8/19. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door for $15.
